With more than 800 executive and associate members in the State of Florida, including those who manage trade and professional associations, individual membership societies, charitable organizations and other not-for-profit organizations, FSAE is the recognized public spokesperson and leading resource for information on associations. Since 1959 the Florida Society of Association Executives (FSAE) has provided its members with the resources they need to enhance their performance and ensure continued growth and success. The Florida Society of Association Executives serves its members and advances the association profession through a community of knowledge sharing, education, advocacy and business modeling.

The Florida Society of Association Executives represents over 600 associations whose combined membership exceeds 1.5 million Floridians. These associations also employ over 60,000 Floridians, and spend over $1.7 billion dollars each year in the state of Florida.

ASAE’s Associations Matter: Associations by the Numbers research gives the public a sense of how vital the association community is to the nation’s social and economic well-being.  Besides employing more than one million people nationwide and projecting to add another 75,000 in the next seven years, associations nationally use their $33 billion in annual revenue to provide roughly $6 billion worth of public and membership education, as well as $1.3 million in community service.  The research also shows that associations impact every state, as associations create jobs in every state, from California (93,912 jobs) to Wyoming (2,024).  Below is a sampling of economic figures from the associations that make up Florida:

  • There are 6,884 associations in the state of Florida, as of 2006.
  • In 2006, Florida associations employed 62,606 people, which is the 4th largest in the nation.  In 2001, state associations employed 53,697 people, which was the 5th largest in the nation.
  • In terms of wages, in 2006 Florida associations paid on average $33,066 to an association employee, which was 22nd in the nation.  Compare this to 2001: associations on average in Florida paid $28,550.  This is a change of 15.8%.
  • Florida has the nation's fourth largest association workforce and it has grown 27% between 1997 and 2006.
  • Florida has the second largest number of associations (6,884) behind only California.

In addition to direct and indirect economic impact, FSAE’s members add value to Florida in many ways including: skills training and professional development; ethical technical and professional standards; business and social innovation; information and knowledge creation; public education and information. Also, Florida based association’s staff and members donated over 18 million volunteer hours for civic and community activities last year alone.
