Ethics: Freebies, Perks and Points, Oh My!

Speaker: Cathi C. Lundgren, CAE

How big of a ‘gift’ is too big? Do you use points obtained from hotel contracts for personal use? Is it okay to accept a room upgrade? Do you pit service vendors against each other to obtain a better bid? Do you have to turn down that spa visit? Does your employer or membership organization have a code of conduct? As with any industry, event planning has its own set of sticky ethical issues to deal with, and you’re eventually going to be faced with a moral dilemma (or two, or three…) over the course of your career. How you deal with them will not only define you as a professional, but as a person. Cathi Lundgren, CAE will discuss the role ethics plays in our profession and how to deal with it morally. Bring your thoughts, comments and questions for what will be a lively discussion on professional ethics and the future of our profession.

Cathi Lundgren, CAE works with HPN Global as a Global Account Director providing site selection and contract negotiation services for businesses and associations. She also provides meeting consulting services focusing on procedural analysis to facilitate growth. Cathi managed the annual convention and continuing education programs for the Florida Dental Association for 12 years.  She also worked in the private sector developing and marketing online continuing education for a variety of licensed professions. Prior to her work in meetings management, she served as AIA Florida’s communication director and managing editor of Florida Caribbean Architect.
