Seeing Creativity Differently: The Role of Cognitive Preferences

CAE1 Hour

Kim MacuareSpeaker: Dr. Kimberly Macuare, Co-Director of Innovation Labs, The Dalí Museum

While there are multiple creative problem-solving frameworks—collaborative, design thinking, lean startup, Synectics, six hats, and others—there is a single universal process that we go through to solve creative challenges (otherwise known as problems with no right answers). Understanding that universal process and our own cognitive preferences for certain stages within it helps us enhance our creative thinking and improve our innovation outcomes.

In this session, we will work on identifying your personal innovation strength(s) and gaining an understanding of how this information can be used for personal growth and improved team communication and dynamics.

The Dali is offering private docent tours of the gallery following the lunch.

Dr. Kimberly Macuare, Co-Director of Innovation Labs at The Dalí, is an experienced educator, curriculum designer and writer. In her role as the lead program designer and facilitator for the Innovation Labs, she has helped many organizations, such as Henkel, Capital One, and Bloomin’ Brands, to build their innovation capacities by developing creativity-focused mindsets and learning creative problem-solving skills.
