An Update on Frank Rudd

Frank ruddIt is with deep sadness and very heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of our beloved leader Frank Rudd.

Frank recently took a medical leave of absence to concentrate on his health. Unfortunately, his illness progressed quickly and he passed peacefully in his home after an eight month battle with cancer.

There will be a visitation this Thursday, September 14 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Immanuel Baptist Church followed by the funeral service on Friday, September 15 at 10:00 AM.

Frank Hazelton Rudd, CAE, CMP was born on October 10, 1963 to Hurley and Vickie Rudd. After Frank graduated from Leon High School in 1981, he went on to study at Florida State University and was among the first to receive a degree in Association Management. 

His 25+ years of experience in the association field includes serving as Director of Meetings at the Florida Home Builders Association, Executive Director for the Florida School Nutrition Association, Executive Director of the Florida Engineering Society and the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers. Most recently, he served as President/CEO for the Florida Society of Association Executives, where he met his wife, Melissa.

He married Melissa in 2005, and they adopted their two children, Emily (16) and Andrew (14). He is survived by his brother Ley Rudd and his sister Cheryl Alford.

Frank was very active in the Tallahassee community. He served on the Boards of Synovus Bank, Courage through Cancer, Economics Club, Allied Societies Alliance, United Partners for Human Services and the Leon High Foundation. He served as President for Exchange Club. He served as a Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church and as the Treasurer for St. Teresa Beach Church. He was a member of the Colonels Club. He served as PTA Treasurer for several years at Kate Sullivan Elementary School.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, followed by the funeral service on Friday, September 15 at 10:00 AM. Both will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of the following: FSAE Foundation, Immanuel Baptist Church and Big Bend Hospice.
